Offshore medical services

Occupational health services for the offshore industry

The UK offshore industry employs more than 20,000 people who are exposed to a range of health risks.

Working in the offshore industry can involve exposure to hazardous substances, radiation, noise, vibration, extremes of temperature and ergonomic hazards. All have the potential to harm the health of workers, immediately or in later life.

We work with you to prevent ill health arising out of conditions at work by identifying, assessing and controlling health risks.

With more than 40 years experience, we know the environmental, operational and social factors that can affect an offshore worker's health.

Our teams are used to handling even the most complex offshore medical requirements. We have technicians, occupational health nurses, occupational health physicians, offshore medics, and counsellors ready to provide:

  • Medical assessments, fitness to return to work, heath surveillance (e.g. HAVS, skin, respiratory assessments), travel clinics, vaccinations
  • Onsite health promotion and health fairs
  • Offshore medics, onsite nurses, onsite doctors, onsite technicians
  • Occupational hygienists
  • Offshore audits
  • Counsellor services (on and offsite)
  • Physiotherapy services (on and offsite)

Our topside/diving medical response contact centre operates 24 hours, 365 days a year.  We put you in immediate contact with local offshore certified duty doctors and qualified diving doctors.

We also offer emergency electrocardiogram (ECG) reporting.

  • Medic administrators, who are trained at our industry leading medical training unit.

All of our offshore medics have appropriate qualifications, as specified by Health and Safety Executive guidelines.  They also have previous nursing or military experience. Many have further qualifications, covering occupational health, health and safety, food hygiene, vantage experience, control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) and national examination board in occupational safety and health (NEBOSH).
