Capita today announces that it has appointed Professor Sir
Graeme Catto to its clinical governance board. Sir Graeme
will advise on best practice and delivery models for Capita's
growing wellbeing and health services.
Sir Graeme brings a wealth of industry, medical and health
knowledge to Capita, which has more than 30 years experience in
occupational health. A former President of the General Medical
Council, Sir Graeme is emeritus professor of medicine at the
University of Aberdeen and was an honorary consultant nephrologist
at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. In addition, he has served as chief
scientist for the NHS in Scotland and vice-principal at King's
College London, dean of King's College, Guy's and St. Thomas'
Hospitals' medical and dental schools and pro-vice chancellor,
University of London.
Capita expanded the breadth of its wellbeing and health services
last year, acquiring Premier Medical Group and FirstAssist Limited.
In the wider health market, Capita provides support to the
Department of Health and services to the NHS, helping to improve
the efficiency and the effectiveness of healthcare by providing
back office, informatics, governance, research, patient information
and customer contact services. Capita works with some 300 NHS
organisations and its expertise also spans the range of services
the newly-forming GP consortia will require, providing the tools
necessary for making informed decisions, freeing up valuable time
and, most importantly, improving care.
Steve Sharp, managing director of Capita's wellbeing and health
services comments: "With his world class medical education
experience, Sir Graeme Catto's appointment represents a significant
addition to our clinical governance board. His valuable industry
insight will help us to continue to deliver a comprehensive and
enhanced package of health and workforce management services to new
and existing clients, as well as support Capita's existing
relationship with the NHS and Department of Health."
Sir Graeme added; "In a rapidly growing health and wellbeing
marketplace, delivering best practice in clinical governance is of
upmost importance. I look forward to working with the team at
Capita to assist them with continuing to adopt a best in class
approach."
